2023 is the year where I get back to reading physical books consistently – I can feel it. The last few years I fell into mostly listening to audiobooks and then binging like 2 books a day on vacations and there was no in between. I love picking up a physical book, but my addiction to my phone caused me to scroll endlessly rather than ever reading a page. So I have a list of books – most of them sitting on my shelves already just waiting to be picked up – that I can’t wait to jump into at the beginning of this year! I’m being realistic in planning these for Q1 rather than the month because I know BOTM and book club picks will pop up, too. But I just can’t wait to jump into 2023 reading!

(Since I started writing this post initially, I have read several of the books already, AND I got a digital library card for the Las Vegas Clark County Library which has tonnnns more options than the Arkansas libby. SO my list may seem crazy long, but take that into account! Honestly this post is just chaotic in general because that feels like the energy I’m bringing into the year, so let’s just go with it.)
The Stories We Tell – Joanna Gaines (Christmas gift!)
Sisters First (I got this in our December book club exchange)
I’m No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts – Kristin Chenowith (I got an advanced copy from NetGalley, and I’m very behind on reading)
Under the Whispering Door – T.J. Klune (I downloaded it on Kindle Unlimited. Cerulean Sea was one of my favorites of 2022, so I’m excited to read it!)
Trailed – Kathryn Miles (I’m in a true crime mood lately)
Carrie Soto is Back – Taylor Jenkins Reid (March book club pick)
The Do-Over – Lynn Painter (other book club pick for March that I likely will not get to before the meeting, but would still really enjoy reading)
Someone Else’s Shoes – Jojo Moyes (my February BOTM pick!)
Someday – Karen Kingsbury (I’ve been reading the Baxter Family series for about 4 years now… It seems like I read about one a quarter and they’re all sitting on my shelf waiting to be read so I need to step it up!)
Re-Reads I Hope to Get To:
A Man Called Ove – Fredrik Backman (One of my favorites of all time, I must reread before I see the movie!)
Daisy Jones & The Six – Taylor Jenkins Reid (another book-to-screen adaptation prep)
Books that I initially had on the list but have since finished before I hit publish (oops):
What Lies in the Woods – Kate Alice Marshall (my January BOTM pick)
Reminders of Him – Colleen Hoover (I’ve my SIL’s copy on my nightstand since October oops)
One Day in December – Josie Silver – also already finished lol maybe this post is forcing me to actually read my books!
One Little Lie – Colleen Coble (my friend Morgahn LOVES Colleen Coble and she got me this book for my birthday so I can try her out, too!)
It Starts With Us – Colleen Hoover (I know, I know. I really enjoyed It Ends With Us so I just want to finish out the story, okay?)
Mad Honey – Jodi Picoult
You can keep up with what I’ve actually read so far and my thoughts on each book here:
What I Read in January
What I Read in February
(Additional note: since I finished writing this post, the Las Vegas Clark County Library has rescinded all digital library cards for all of the people who signed up and didn’t live in Nevada. I totally understand why it happened, but I am so sad to lose all of those books!)
